Privacy Policy — Bean Counting University
Last updated: July 15, 2026
Bean Counting University (“Bean Counting University,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a mobile and web application that teaches accounting through interactive lessons and practice (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and a password. Your password is stored in encrypted form and we cannot read it.
- Your learning choices. The course track you select when you start.
Information created as you use the App
- Learning progress. Which lessons you have completed, experience points (XP) earned, your activity streak, and the dates you were last active. This lets the App show your progress and pick up where you left off.
- On-device practice data. Your best “Accounting Gym” practice streak is stored only on your device and is not sent to our servers.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical logs. Like most apps with a secure backend, our service provider records standard technical information (such as the time of a request and the internet (IP) address it came from) to operate the service, keep it secure, and troubleshoot problems.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, or health data, and we do not use third-party advertising networks or sell your personal information.
How we use your information
- To create and maintain your account and sign you in (including passwordless “magic link” sign-in by email).
- To save and display your learning progress, XP, streaks, and chosen track.
- To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the App.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations.
How your information is stored
Your account and progress data are stored using our backend provider, Xano, which hosts the database and handles sign-in on our behalf. Emails for passwordless sign-in may be delivered through an email service provider. These providers process data only to provide their service to us.
Your choices and rights
- Access and update. You can view your name, email, and track on the Profile screen in the App.
- Delete your account. You can permanently delete your account and all associated progress at any time from Profile → Delete my account. This removes your user record and your lesson progress from our database and cannot be undone. You may also email us to request deletion.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, or deletion of your data). To exercise them, contact us at the email below.
Children’s privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention
We keep your account and progress data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your associated data as described above. Standard technical logs are retained only as long as needed to operate and secure the service.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated within the App or by email where appropriate.
